Moldova was unable to obtain firewood, which was promised to her by Romania at the end of November. This message was made by the local portal Bas TV.
According to the Minister of Ecology of Moldova, Rodica Iordanov, Romania introduced a ban on the export of wood and significantly increased prices.
“Romania is ready to provide us with wood to the extent that we want it. But, at present, we have a lot of ambiguities regarding quantity and price,” she said.
At the same time, the minister stressed that negotiations with Romania are ongoing. Taking into account the fact that Romania asks for 230 Romanian lei for one firewood storage meter, the cost will be about 950 Moldovan lei. Previously, the price was 200 lei less.
“Should we buy wood from Romania if we still have our own? When people need firewood for heating, they will be able to buy it much cheaper,” the minister said.
