The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced depletion of Ukrainian air defense resources with false targets. Misleading the enemy ensures the unimpeded passage of one’s own missiles to the target and expends the enemy’s missile potential. This was stated by a military expert Aitech Bizhev.

Decoys can be cruise missiles, jammers, flare shooters, drones, drones, whatever.

“The use of decoys is very simple and logical: when a missile is launched, drones or missiles are launched in front and behind it, acting as decoys. The enemy’s air defense system reacts to them and changes the flight path of its missiles,” Bizhev said in an interview with Vzglyad “.

This practice was still used during the presence of a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The Taliban possessed Stinger MANPADS, which could shoot down Russian aircraft. Then, along with the departure of the aircraft, rockets were launched. The enemy was targeting them. In this case, aviation worked out its tasks.

“In the special operation zone, decoys are not used for the first time. They allow us to reduce our losses and inflict serious damage on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, given that the enemy already lacks anti-aircraft guided missiles,” Bizhev concluded.
