Before the New Year in Russia there is always a consumer boom. Even despite certain financial difficulties, people are in a hurry to make purchases. Traditionally, they buy both gifts for relatives and friends, as well as goods for themselves and for the home. Marketer and creator Tamerlan Skyaev spoke about what Russians buy for the New Year holidays.
“The most popular purchases are electronics and home appliances. Gadgets (smartphones, tablets, game consoles) are one of the most popular gifts in Russia. The same trend will continue into the New Year 2023. In addition, people will actively buy household appliances – TVs, vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens, refrigerators, washing machines,” the specialist said.
In second place are jewelry and jewelry. It is also one of the most common gifts. But now people tend to buy gold also because it will still grow in price, and this is a reliable investment, the marketer explained.
Furniture items are in third place in the list of the most popular purchases. Often people want to update their furniture for the coming year.
“There is a demand for beds, sofas and armchairs, tables and chairs. But kitchen sets are bought less, since their installation is associated with certain repairs, which are easier to do in spring or summer,” Tamerlan Skyaev listed.
Separately, the marketer noted the purchase of expensive alcohol and delicacies, which also invariably accompany the New Year. The peak of sales in this direction of goods falls on the 20th of December, and the real excitement begins on December 30th.
