Work in nursing homes will be carried out within the framework of the Step Toward project, which was developed by the Social Policy Department of the Lipetsk Region together with the More Than Good association. We have already trained 70 children who will work at the Vvedensky Gerontological Center and the Lipetsk Boarding Home for the Elderly and the Disabled.

It is planned that student volunteers will help the staff of the houses. They will walk with their grandparents living there, talk with them, and engage in creativity.

The press service of the governor of the Lipetsk region said that when the project organizers were looking for volunteers, they held several meetings with students. The guys from the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University, the Lipetsk Medical College and the College of Construction, Architecture and Industry Technologies responded.

The students wanted to help their grandparents not for some kind of encouragement, but at the behest of their hearts, the press service noted. To become a volunteer, the guys were trained. Employees of the Vvedensky Gerontological Center worked with them. Classes were held at the “School of Care” on the basis of the Lipetsk boarding school.

A presentation of the project will soon take place in these two institutions, and older people will be told about student volunteers who will come to them. As Governor Igor Artamonov noted, the guys who wanted to become volunteers have a big heart. After all, helping the elderly in boarding schools is a very difficult job that requires attention, patience and empathy.
