Military expert Alexei Leonkov explained whether the Patriot missile defense systems will be able to close the sky over Ukraine.
Despite the fact that this is a serious weapon, it is unlikely that it will be able to fully withstand Russian missiles and drones, Leonkov is sure.
“Another point is that this is a very complex system, the operator’s training period on the Patriot is at least a year, and it is unlikely that the Ukrainian military will operate it,” the expert said in an interview with Life.
According to him, hundreds of such systems will be needed to fully protect the Ukrainian sky.
Recall that on February 24, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced the start of military special operations in Ukraine.
It is known that the day before, the US administration did not confirm the inclusion of the Patriot air defense system in the new package of military assistance to Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that supplies USA Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv will increase the risk of direct involvement of the American army in the Ukrainian conflict.
