The head of the non-profit organization Union “Gardeners of the Kuban” Nikolai Shcherbakov addressed the head of the government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin with a request to cancel the decision to import apples from Moldovan enterprises. About this writes the publication “Kommersant”.

According to Shcherbakov, this measure is necessary to encourage local producers to increase their harvesting volumes and increase their share in the domestic market.

The Association of Horticultural Organizations of the Stavropol Territory, the Association of Nurseries and Gardens of Dagestan, and the Association of Russian Breeders joined the appeal. The ban on the import of apples from Moldova will help local companies reduce production costs and avoid excessive price dumping.

More than half of Russian gardeners work in conditions of unfair competition with foreign partners. The importation of cheap and low-quality imports into the country dumps prices and undermines the economy of farms, the appeal says.
