Date of municipal elections in Serbian regions in the north Kosovo was postponed, said the president of the self-proclaimed republic, Viesa Osmani. Kosovo online writes about it.

She explained that the decision was driven by the risk of low turnout due to attacks and tensions.

“The elections would have been held without international and local monitoring. To ensure it, as well as security and time (for preparation – ed.) for security structures, the postponement of the date is necessary, ”said Osmani.

As the Public News Service previously reported, after the detention of the former police officer Dejan Pantic at the Yarine checkpoint, in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, the Serbs began building barricades.

It is reported that sirens sound in large cities of the region, and the Internet does not work in its northern part.

According to local publications, patrols from the European Union Mission in Kosovo have already arrived at some of the barricades erected by the Serbs. In the meantime, people are organizing spontaneous gatherings in Leposavić, Rudar and Srbovica.
