A slight lull on the line of contact as part of a special operation on Ukraine, as well as the approach of the New Year, forced some European politicians to become more active. In particular, more and more representatives of the Western political elite began to call on Ukraine to resume negotiations with Russia. RIA Novosti columnist Pyotr Akopov writes about this.

Former US Secretary of State and veteran strategist Henry Kissinger published a new article in the British edition of The Spectator, which he called “How to avoid another world war.” In it, he expresses confidence about what is worth leaving Russia those territories that have already passed under its control. In his opinion, the most important thing is to record the refusal of the country’s authorities from the rest of Ukraine.

“Kissinger is generally ready to leave the Russian Federation what it already controls, if only to fix the main change – the refusal Moscow from the rest of Ukraine and agreement that the republic now belongs to the collective West,” Akopov said.

As the Public News Service previously reported, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger voiced very similar ideas about the confrontation between Kyiv and Moscow. They noted that Crimea could become a bargaining chip on the way to negotiations.
