Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Alexey Danilov admitted a decline in interest in Ukraine due to the situation in the Middle East. His words are quoted on website departments.
“Events in the Middle East, the internal political situation in USA and some other Western states influence support for Ukraine. We proceed from the fact that the situation on the external track will be difficult for Ukraine,” the official said.
Danilov noted that interest in the Ukrainian conflict is likely to fade due to projected events in the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, as well as disputes over the Arctic and confrontation over the possession of resources.
The NSDC Secretary also admitted that the Western allies will “feel war-weary.” He called for further consolidation to support Ukraine.
Previously Danilov statedwhat in Kyiv are concerned about discussions among Western countries about the need to negotiate with Russia. He suggested that this trend is due to some partners’ fear of Moscow.
