legendary american actor Johnny Depp has made the decision to appeal the recent trial he had against his ex-wife for defamation, also an American actress Amber Heard. The actor now wants a total victory, in order not to pay his ex a penny.
Johnny Depp He has not hesitated twice and has taken the next step in his appeal of the 2 million dollar verdict that the jury of the court of FairfaxVirginia gave to Amber Heard in his media trial for defamation in May.
In an appeal filed Wednesday in the Virginia Court of Appeals, the renowned actor called the jury’s decision to award money to his ex-wife “wrong.”
Jurors awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, before the Fairfax County judge, Penney Azcarate, reduce the latter to the state legal limit of $350,000.
Heard won only one of his three lawsuits against the actor, as the jury concluded that Depp, through his lawyer Adam Waldmann, smeared her by calling her allegations about a 2016 incident “an ambush, a hoax.”
Depp contends that Heard did not present evidence at trial showing that he was personally involved in directing or making any of the three statements Waldman made, and that his attorney did not witness any of the interactions between the former couple before he was hired. .
Until now, we will have to wait to find out new details about this new lawsuit, but given the way it is going, it will not be surprising to see both actors facing each other again in court.
