Celebrations in honor of the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory are held in the Ryazan region

On May 9, festive events dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 traditionally began on Victory Square. A solemn rally was held at the Eternal Flame of the memorial complex. Veterans, servicemen and cadets of the Ryazan garrison, residents and guests of the region were congratulated by the Governor of the region Nikolai Lyubimov.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Metropolitan of Ryazan and Mikhailovsky Mark, Chairman of the Regional Duma Arkady Fomin, Head of the Administration of Ryazan Elena Sorokina, Chairman of the City Duma Tatyana Panfilova, heads of regional ministries, territorial bodies of federal authorities, representatives of labor collectives, public organizations , foreign delegations from sister cities of Ryazan, students, schoolchildren, volunteers, cadets, activists of the Yunarmiya movement.

Governor Nikolai Lyubimov, congratulating the participants of the celebrations on May 9, noted that on this day the greatest justice in world history was accomplished.

“What they were waiting for, what they aspired to, what cost blood, labor and heroic efforts. For the long-awaited peace, for the freedom and independence of the Fatherland, our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers gave the most valuable thing – their lives. People are the most difficult and irreparable loss. Tens of millions of dead, of which 180 thousand are residents of the Ryazan region. Our fellow countrymen on all fronts of the Great Patriotic War showed fearlessness, courage and courage,” he said.

Nikolai Lyubimov emphasized that more than 350 Ryazan residents became Heroes of the Soviet Union, more than 60 became full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory, 70,000 were awarded orders and medals. The Governor addressed with words of gratitude and deep respect to the veterans present, wished them good spirits, long life and a peaceful sky.

“Dear veterans. Thank you for this great holiday! For your feat! Victory would not have been possible without the heroism of the Soviet people, without a special kind of heroism,” he said.

The events continued with a parade of troops from the Ryazan Territorial Garrison. Officers and cadets of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Order of Suvorov, twice Red Banner Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov, structural subdivisions of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service, a branch of the Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia named after V.Ya. Kikot, the main department of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Ryazan region, the Office of the Federal Bailiff Service, detachments of Yunarmiya members and cadet classes of schools in the city of Ryazan.
