On June 24, the All-Russian action “Rays of Victory” will be held in all regions of the country. In the Rostov region in the evening on this day, the sky will also be illuminated by the beams of searchlights in the cities of military glory – Rostov and Taganrog.

During the war years, the rays in the night sky meant the danger of an enemy raid. And on June 24, 1945, for the first time in many years, searchlights illuminated the night sky over Moscow not in search of attacking bombers, but as a symbol of a clear and safe sky. On this day, the first Victory Parade was held on Red Square, commanded by Marshal of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky, and received by Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov.

In 2021, the idea of holding an action was born in the hero city of Sevastopol and, thanks to the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, gained a large-scale character.

  • “Rays of Victory” is intended to recall the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, their courage and the millions of victims of Nazism. Anyone can join it, including enterprises and organizations,” said Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region Vadim Artemov.

According to preliminary data, the main venue for the action in the Don capital will be the square near the monument-stele “To the soldiers-liberators of Rostov-on-Don from Nazi invaders.” In Taganrog, from nine to ten o’clock in the evening, “Rays of Victory” will be lit in the Gorky Park of Culture and Leisure.
