Booktrailer competition “Reading” was held on the eve of the XV Chekhov Book Festival, and the awarding of the best of the proposed works will take place on one of the days of this bright holiday for reading people.

The competition was organized by the Department of Culture of Taganrog, the Faculty of Media Communications and Multimedia Technologies of the Don State Technical University and MAU “City House of Culture”.

Three nominations were offered to participants from 11 to 36 years old: game, non-game and animated booktrailer.

A book trailer is a short video that tells about a book in an artistic form. It is created to promote reading, to draw attention to books through visual means.

Ten applications were received by the organizers of the competition. Kindergarten No. 100, Gymnasium named after A.P. Chekhov, Taganrog schools No. 8 and 34, Taganrog Institute. A.P. Chekhov, Rostov-on-Don branch of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov and MBUK “TsBS Taganrog”. The stories of Viktor Dragunsky, “Kashtanka” by A.P. Chekhov, the work of Alexei Varlamov and Taganrog talented twins – Valentin Parnakh and Elizaveta Tarakhovskaya.

Shadow theatre, animation, game scenes, unexpected choice of music and video… The videos shown are very diverse, but they do their job perfectly – an invitation to open and read a book. The three best works have already been selected by respected members of the jury, and the videos themselves can be viewed on the VKontakte social network on the page of the Chekhov Book Festival vk.com/chekhovfestival.

The awards will be presented to the winners on May 21 at 20.30 at the Taganrog Tram Art Space in Gorky Park.
