On May 8, Spassk joined the all-Russian patriotic action “Memory Watch”.
Residents, representatives of the city and district administrations, public organizations, members of the Youth Army and high school students gathered at the War stele and at the graves of soldiers who died in the Spassk hospital in 1944. They honored the memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence and laid a wreath and flowers. Archpriest Sergiy Baranov, Dean of the Southern Deanery of Spassk, served a funeral litany for those who died in those terrible years.
The meeting participants were addressed by the head of the Spassky district – the chairman of the regional Duma Olga Venevtseva; head of the administration of the Spassk-Ryazan settlement Vladimir Lebin; Reserve Colonel Mikhail Lyashchenko.
“Memory Watch” was also held at the memorial in Victory Park. In the guard of honor at the portraits of the Heroes of the Soviet Union of the Spassky district stood the Youth Army of the city school. Deputy head of the regional administration Yury Krotov spoke at the rally; head of the Spassk-Ryazan urban settlement Dmitry Knyazev; honorary citizen of the Spassky district, poetess Irina Badikova. The protesters laid flowers at the foot of the memorial. And they honored the memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.
After the end of the rally, the action “Remember all by name” began. In the Victory Park, the names of the Saviors who had not returned from the battlefield sounded from the speakers for several hours.
