In Kamchatka, a businessman from Novosibirsk was convicted of the death of tourists on a volcano

In the Kamchatka Territory, a court issued a verdict against the director of the Extreme Time travel company from Novosibirsk in the case of the death of eight tourists on the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in September 2022. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

According to the department, the businessman was found guilty of “provision of services that do not meet safety requirements” (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He admitted guilt and cooperated with the investigation. The man received a sentence of four years in prison.

The investigation established that the entrepreneur published an advertisement on the Internet about a tour to climb the specified volcano in Kamchatka. He hired two incompetent people as instructors and guides for a group of ten people.

On August 30 last year, tourists went to the top without permission from the natural park to visit and without an approved route. On September 3, at an altitude of four kilometers above sea level, two travelers and one instructor began their descent to the volcanologists’ house due to poor health.

The rest continued to climb. After 400 meters they decided to go down because it was impossible to continue moving up the ice slope. The group fell down and died.

Previously, the Public News Service reported that in the Samara region on Volga found the body of a man. This happened in a village in the Krasnoglinsky district.
