Friday, January 6th Pope Francis congratulated everyone who celebrates Christmas on January 7 with the upcoming holiday. It is reported by TASS.

Pope Francis conveyed his congratulations to the Eastern Churches, both Catholic and Orthodox, who celebrate Christmas on January 7th.

In his congratulations, the pontiff also addressed the Ukrainian people, promised to pray a lot for peace on Ukraine.

We remind you that earlier Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill called for a Christmas truce in Ukraine and Donbass for a period of 36 hours. According to him, this initiative would allow Orthodox people to freely attend Christmas services.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to establish a ceasefire along the entire line of contact in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7.
