Exclusion procedure Russia from UN has its own difficulties. This follows from a statement by UK Commons Board member Leo Doherty, who responded to a related question by colleague Julian Sturdy, transmits R.T.
Initially, Sturdi sent a request to the Foreign Minister Britain James Cleverley, in which he asked if the minister would “defend the idea” of excluding the Russian Federation from the UN. Doherty answered him, reminding him of the stages of the procedure.
“To suspend the membership of a UN member state or expel it from the organization, it is required that, on the recommendation of the UN Security Council, the General Assembly make an appropriate decision,” the parliamentarian said.
If at least nine of the 15 participating countries vote “for” the exclusion of Russia from the UN, then such a decision will be made.
Viktoria Fedosova, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, noted that this is not the first time such a proposal has been made in relation to Russia. Earlier, the United States and Ukraine spoke about this. These three states are based on the “rules” of the new world order, where, apparently, Moscow does not belong.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to the US idea to terminate Russia’s membership in the UN.
