For an early entry Ukraine in European Union (EU) was made by the leadership of Hungary. However, Balazs Orban, adviser to the Prime Minister of Hungary on political issues, noted that Budapest does not intend to lose ties with Russia.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said that Hungary was not holding any special “veto policies”.

Later, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced the need to “drain the corruption swamp” in the European Union. Commenting on the detention on suspicion of bribery of the Deputy President of the European Parliament Eva Kaili and her partners, Orban recalled that Budapest is not being allocated funds from the EU fund, allegedly due to accusations in corruption.

The Public News Service reported that Major General of the SBU Alexander Petrulevich announced Viktor Orban’s plans to receive from Ukraine Transcarpathiawhere a large number of ethnic Hungarians live.
