Slightly less than 50% of graduates do not work in the specialty received during their studies at the university. The problem of career guidance for young people is caused by pressure from parents or other external factors.
Deputy Minister of Science and Education Pyotr Kucherenko at a press conference at TASS declaredthat about 47% of young professionals do not continue to work in their field after graduation from the university, as they do not understand the vector of their further development. Kucherenko stressed that the issue of vocational guidance should arise before entering a particular university.
He noted that a special program “Trainee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia» is designed to help senior students who have chosen the direction of public service, decide what they want. According to Kucherenko, the potential coverage of the project is 67,000 people. Applications for participation in the program will last until December 31.
At the moment, about 400 questionnaires have been accepted from the guys who will be able to proceed to the next stages of the project. From January 6 to February 6, participants will be tested for knowledge of the Russian language, history and laws on public service in the Russian Federation. In mid-February, students will be able to start the profile assignment. Until March 2, the participants will have to hand in their portfolios, and at the beginning of the first spring month – a business game.
The results of all tests will be announced on March 9-10. The most successful participants will be invited for internships in nine departments of the Ministry of Education and Science. Within 4.5 months, 30 project winners will gain experience and knowledge in order to pass certification and become part of the personnel reserve of the Ministry of Education and Science.
