Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg said that the rise incidence influenza, SARS and COVID during the New Year holidays in Russia is unlikely. He noted that this is due to the fact that residents of the Russian Federation almost never travel abroad.

“The likelihood of an increase in the incidence of covid, influenza and SARS during the holidays is not very high, our citizens in these New Year [праздники] they won’t fly especially around the globe, and to us too, ”TASS quotes him as saying.

Next year, Russia may find itself in a new wave of the pandemic. However, this time the cause will not be the coronavirus, but the flu.
