Grain reserves have decreased in Russia

In December 2023, the total stocks of grain crops in Russian agricultural organizations decreased by 1.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 34.7 million tons. This is reported by Interfax with reference to data Rosstat.

During this time, wheat stocks decreased by 1.6 percent, to 21.8 million tons. Oilseed stocks fell the most – they fell by 13.2 percent, to 5.5 million tons. Sunflower reserves during this time decreased by 7 percent and amounted to 2.7 million tons.

In turn, corn reserves, on the contrary, increased by 2 percent and reached a level of 3.7 million tons. At the same time, potato reserves increased by 37 percent, to 1.9 million tons. Vegetable reserves increased by 5.6 percent in annual terms and amounted to 595.3 thousand tons.

Earlier, the Interfax agency, with reference to statistical data from analysts of the Russian Grain Union (RGU) reportedthat since the beginning of 2024, the export of Russian grain has decreased by 24.5 percent. From January 1 to January 21, a total of 2.6 million tons of grain crops were exported from the country.
