According to experts, in Russia there is an active formation of the secondary market of goods. It will replace part of the assortment that has become unavailable due to sanctions.
Chairman of the Board of the Digital Economy Development Fund German Klimenko on the air public news service told how used equipment gets on the shelves of Russian stores.
“From January 1, 2022, the purchase of used mobile devices from individuals is excluding VAT. Accordingly, it became more profitable for companies to buy them. Secondly, the shelves of our stores have degraded, there is no official delivery, so you can only put on the counter the goods that were taken from the population. This VAT reserve gave a good increase. It is also important that parallel imports cannot be put on the balance sheet, and they are not sold with a guarantee.”
German Klymenko noted that companies have received an improved opportunity to buy goods from the population. At the same time, prices for parallel imports have fallen, in connection with which many Russians have decided to hand over their old equipment.
