AT Germany only 33% of citizens trust Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This is evidenced by data from Trendbarometer surveys conducted for German TV channels RTL and N-tv. This year, the chancellor’s rating has fallen by 24 points.

The country’s federal government also lost 22% over the year. The level of confidence in the Bundestag decreased by 13 points (to 37%). The survey was conducted from 15 to 22 December 2022. 4003 respondents participated in it.

Olaf Scholz issued a statement that Germany will continue to support Ukraine, despite all the consequences for ordinary Germans. His New Year’s address was devoted to the unity of the European Union and NATO.

He stated that German citizens feel the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine every day when they visit a supermarket or a gas station. Despite this, Scholz noted that the outgoing year was a year of solidarity and strength.
