Servicepipe, a developer of solutions for protecting against cyber attacks, warned the Russians that scammers began to steal bonuses from bank customers using bots. After the attackers get the bonuses, they buy popular products during times of high demand and create an artificial scarcity.
The following information is given: “Malicious bots can not only generate parasitic traffic that develops into DDoS attacks, but also, for example, place orders for high-demand goods during holidays and sales, thus creating their artificial shortage.”
Because of this, real users face difficulties during purchases. Increased activity of fraudulent activity is associated with frequent leaks from retailers.
As previously reported by the Public News Service, the Russian Ministry of Digital Transformation made a proposal to telecom operators to introduce a new mechanism to fight spam calls. The department wrote about this in its Telegram channel.
In particular, it is proposed to create a system with which it will be possible to block auto-dialing until the purpose of the call is confirmed. According to the ministry, this innovation will reduce the number of spam calls.
