Former head of the National Bank Ukraine Kirill Shevchenko appealed to the authorities Austria asking him to provide refuge. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Politics of the Country”.
According to the publication, Shevchenko currently lives in Vienna. In Ukraine, he was declared suspected of organizing a scheme to embezzle funds from Ukrgasbank. In this regard, the ex-head of the National Bank announced political persecution and asked for asylum.
According to sources interviewed by the publication, in this way Shevchenko intends to create additional obstacles to the extradition that threatens him.
Earlier it was reported that the Netherlands will stop automatically granting asylum to Russians who evade mobilization. This was stated by State Secretary of the Ministry of Security and Justice of the country Eric van der Burg.
