About the purpose of payments reported at a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great figure of Russian and world science.
The works of Nikolai Basov, devoted to quantum electronics and its applications, formed the basis of a new direction in physics. Among the numerous merits of the scientist: the idea of using lasers to control thermonuclear fusion, methods of laser heating of plasma, as well as stimulating chemical reactions with laser radiation.
In addition, he developed the physical foundations for the creation of quantum frequency standards, put forward ideas for new applications of lasers in optoelectronics. The merits of N.G. Basov were marked by numerous awards: five Orders of Lenin, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, the Gold Medal. M.V. Lomonosov and others.
Representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia Irina Chugueva said that a lot of work had been done through the joint efforts of the Ministry, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute. At the moment, the draft resolution on the establishment of scholarships has passed all stages of coordination and has been sent to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
