Former football player of the Russian national team, CSKA and Lokomotiv Andrey Solomatin, who recently visited the Donbass on a humanitarian mission, made an open appeal to Russian athletes. He urged them to unite and support the military now fighting in Ukraine.
“Not only football players, but all people in our country should unite. And by any means help and support the guys who are now at the front, ”Solomatin said in an interview with “Reedus”. He added that humanitarian actions to help the residents of Donbass should turn into a “large-scale phenomenon.”
Speaking about the trip, the ex-footballer said that he, along with a group of volunteers, managed not only to come, support and meet with local residents, but also to deliver some necessary things to those in need. The next time Solomatin intends to head to the Donbass next week.
At the summit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) previously decided not to film sanctionsimposed on Russian and Belarusian athletes. Athletes were suspended from participation in competitions after the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
