Some EU countries, including Italy, intend to seek a gas price ceiling below 200 euros per MWh, ANSA writes.

The publication says that the document will reflect the need to come to an agreement on the “energy package”, which was proposed by the European Commission.

The agency, citing sources in Brussels, did not rule out that this could be done as early as next week during a meeting of relevant ministers.

However, writes ANSA, at the moment there are still disagreements on the threshold of restriction and on the wider possibilities of its application.

It should be noted that most of the countries were not satisfied with the initial proposal of the European Commission for a price cap of 275 euros, which is introduced after two weeks of maintaining higher gas prices.

As previously reported by the Public News Service, Vice Chancellor, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany Robert Habek on Tuesday, December 13, announced the progress made by the EU countries on technical issues setting a gas price ceiling.
