The eminent figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze openly expressed her opinion about the removal of athletes from Russia from participating in international championships.

The coach remained silent for a long time about the current situation, probably hoping that the International Skating Union (ISU) would still side with the skaters from the Russian Federation. However, there is no real hope for this.

Recently it became known about the cancellation of the Grand Prix stage, which was supposed to take place in Sochi. In addition, in the spring in France, the World Figure Skating Championship was organized, at which not a single Russian athlete was represented.

Eteri Tutberidze is sure that it is simply pointless to distribute medals and titles, as well as update the ratings of athletes without Russians. The coach believes that domestic figure skaters should be allowed to participate in world championships again as soon as possible so that they do not turn into a profanation.

“I think that ratings should not be updated and titles should not be distributed in the absence of us – this is absurd. I know that it is sport that erases the boundaries and unites all the athletes of the world,” emphasized Tutberidze.
