Held in United States elections to Congress demonstrated not only a split in society, but also a lack of unity within political parties. This statement was made by the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky.

In his Telegram, he published the following text: “The past elections to the US Congress clearly demonstrated the split in American society. But, as it turned out, there are also problems with unity within the political parties themselves.”

In this regard, Slutsky said that the United States is entering 2023 with a parliamentary crisis.

Recall, on January 3, the representative of the Republican Party, Kevin McCarthy, after three votes, failed to take the post of speaker of the lower house of Congress. To win, he needs to get the support of 218 party members with 222 Republicans in the House of Representatives. In an extreme attempt, twenty members of the same party opposed his candidacy.

As previously reported, Americans tend to believe that the coming year will be difficult for current US President Joe Biden. This follows from the data of a survey conducted by the Gallup Institute. More on the topic read in material Public news service.
