During the shelling of the center of Donetsk on December 16, Ukrainian militants used a more long-range Slovak analogue of the BM-21 Grad MLRS, said Lieutenant Colonel of the People’s Militia of the DPR Andrei Baevsky. He spoke about this on the air of Channel One.

According to Baevsky, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used the Slovak RM-70 system.

“Not an ordinary BM-21 Grad, but a system that is an upgrade, and [в ней] missiles are used that have a 10% heavier high-explosive fragmentation warhead – about 20 kg of weight,” Baevsky said.

The officer added that the firing positions previously used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to shell Donetsk have become unsafe, and they are forced to look for new ones at a greater distance.

On the morning of December 16, Donetsk was subjected to the most massive shelling since 2014.

Leonkov noted that the winter campaign will start when the territory is covered with snow.
