The European Parliament announced the need to transform the global energy system. The issue has become more pressing than ever because of the Russian war against Ukraine. This was reported in the press service of the Parliament.
The Europeans are calling on the G20 countries to show leadership and strive for more ambitious reductions in greenhouse gases by 2030. the message says.
European deputies propose the following steps to achieve the goal:
- provide funding for developing countries;
- phase out fossil fuel subsidies;
- better adapt to climate change;
- compensate developing countries for losses and damages due to climate change.
