MP State Duma Ivan Sukharev proposed to provide the Heroes of Russia and USSR the right to free travel on long-distance trains. The parliamentarian stressed that such titles are awarded to citizens for exceptional services to the state and society.

Sukharev recalled that this category of Russians has limited benefits for the use of long-distance rail transport. In particular, they have the right to two free trips for personal needs and travel to and from the place of treatment during the year, RT writes with reference to the deputy’s appeal to the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev.

According to Sukharev, these people are a vivid example, including for the younger generation, of the fulfillment of civil and military duty. Therefore, the legislator considers it necessary to grant the Heroes of the Russian Federation and the Soviet Union the right to free travel on long-distance trains “without limiting the number of trips.”

“I ask you to express the official position of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on this issue,” the appeal says.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the deputies of the Moscow Regional Duma, as part of the meeting held on Thursday, came up with an initiative to release from the transport tax of mobilized residents of the region, as well as members of their families.
