Death penalty bill to be discussed in Israel

National Security Council Israel will discuss a bill that would allow death sentences for terrorists. About it reports Haaretz, citing a government source.

The initiative belongs to the head of the country’s Ministry of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir. It is noted that during the discussion, the council will consider the possible consequences of the bill in the international arena.

According to the newspaper, in accordance with the bill, courts will impose the death penalty on anyone convicted of murdering an Israeli citizen if the actions of the attackers “have a racist motivation and are aimed at causing harm to the Jewish people and the revival of the Jewish people in their homeland.”

Previously Deputy Head Ministry of Justice of Russia Andrey Loginov statedthat the position of the Constitutional Court actually prohibits the abolition of the moratorium on the death penalty in the country. According to him, in Russia There is a “stricter” legal regime of non-application of the death penalty than the international one. He stated that the possibility of returning to the use of the death penalty in Russia is virtually excluded.
