On the morning of Friday, December 16, throughout the territory Ukraine an air raid alert was announced, after which the local media began to report explosions in different regions of the country.

Some time later, Ukrenergo declared an emergency, announcing the failure of half of the country’s energy system. Head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko announced damage energy facilities in the east and south of the country as a result of shelling. Krivorozhskaya TPP – one of the most powerful power plants in Europe and Ukraine was also damaged.

In Kyiv, explosions sounded in several districts of the city at once, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He also urged citizens to stock up on drinking water.

In the capital and some other large cities of Ukraine stopped underground – the subway began to be used as a bomb shelter, and the Ukrainian Railway reported that some plots due to damage to energy infrastructure facilities.

Arrivals were recorded in addition to Kyiv in Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Krivoy Rog, Odessa, Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region.

On February 24, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in his address to the citizens of the Russian Federation, announced the start of a military special operation in the Donbass. He stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Kyiv, but it will strive with all its might to demilitarize Ukraine. On October 10, the RF Armed Forces began launching missile strikes on infrastructure facilities and headquarters of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Public News Service wrote that the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Oleksiy Kuleba forbade local residents to take pictures and publish pictures from the field explosions.
