German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock opposed the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine on Russian terms. She stated this in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, published on Sunday, December 18.

According to the minister, such a scenario would not put an end to “the horror for the people of Ukraine, but vice versa.” Burbock added that she did not hope for a quick ceasefire. For this, she believes, it is enough for Russian President Vladimir Putin to order his soldiers to retreat, but the Foreign Minister does not even count on this.

Netizens have previously criticized Burbock after her words about Putin. They suggested that the head of the German Foreign Ministry constantly thinks about the Russian president, since her statements are so often associated with him.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation on February 25, 2022. In his address to citizens, he stated that the goals of the operation are the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.
