According to bourgas.ru, there are currently 104,235 refugees from Ukraine living in the country, thus Bulgaria ranks first in the EU in terms of the number of Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection. This was announced by the chairman of the State Agency for Refugees – Maryana Tosheva.
“Citizens who left Ukraine because of the war are already approaching 6 million. The number of Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Bulgaria as of May 12 is 252,826 people. At the moment, 104,235 people live in the country,” Tosheva said.
“The number of people registered during the defense as of May 12 is 102,522 people. You understand that we are already approaching 100% registered during protection and the country ranks first in terms of the number of registered with temporary protection in EU member states,” she said, adding that 52,000 of them are women and 40,658 children.
At the moment, the priority is the integration of refugees into society, Tosheva added.
By the end of the week, a special digital platform is expected to be launched, which will collect data on how many citizens of Ukraine intend to stay in the country after May 31. A team of interviewers will help gather information, Tosheva explained.
