bts was the Asian quota last Sunday, February 5, when the Grammy awards from the Recording Academy, one of the 4 most important awards in the artistic and entertainment city of the United States.

Because they are awarded to artists who achieve excellence with their songs and albums, they are considered the highest honor a music artist can receive. In the past, big names in the industry like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Eminem and beyoncé have been awarded a gramophone.

For its part, the Korean septet, the biggest representatives of Kpop, BTS, have been nominated 5 times in different categories, 2 of them as main artist. At the 2021 and 2022 Grammys, they were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with their themes Dynamite and “Butter”, respectively. Both nominations resulted in defeat.

At this year’s Grammys, they were nominated again in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their collaboration with seven-time Grammy winners, Coldplay. The collaboration, titled “My Universe”earned the Korean group 2 more nominations: Best Music Video, for the theme video “Yet To Come”and Album Of The Year, as their collaboration is part of the Coldplay album that was nominated.

Sadly, and to the disappointment of all their fans, they did not win either category, and BTS became the first group to lose the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. 3 times, and consecutive.

The rejection of BTS fans was felt on social networks as soon as it was revealed that “Unholy” of sam smith and kim petras had won the prize, and the networks exploded with the hashtag #Scammys, a word used to imply that the Grammys are a “scam”, robbery in English. On top of that, during the Video of the Year award presentation, they showed the video of all the nominees, but in the case of BTS, they showed a commercial. Hyundai which used the song from the nominated video, not the original video, so fans of the band are calling the organization racist and disrespectful to the Asian nominees.
