High Representative European Union on foreign policy, Josep Borrell made a mistake in his speech before the meeting of the EU foreign ministers, confusing Russia and Ukraine. The video of the incident was published by RIA Novosti.
Borrell announced the imposition of sanctions against Iran “for supporting Ukraine”. Obviously, the diplomat confused Ukraine and Russiabut he did not notice his mistake and did not begin to correct it.
“These are the people who run the European Union. The result is obvious. It will get worse from now on,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the incident in her Telegram channel.
Also today, Josep Borrell said that the member states of the European Union did not agree on the ninth package sanctions against Russia due to the presence of different opinions. At the same time, he expressed hope that an agreement on this issue would be reached today or tomorrow.
