Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov announced the fact damage about half of the country’s energy infrastructure. He also said that sandbags are used to protect critical facilities, Lenta.ru reports.

According to a statement from the state-owned electricity supplier Ukrenergo, the situation is quite difficult: all thermal and hydroelectric power plants are partially damaged.

“There will be no significant improvements in the restoration of electricity supply throughout the country over the weekend,” commented Ukrenergo.

According to Alexander Kubrakov, sandbags are used to protect critical facilities.

Earlier, the Public News Service wrote that, according to the American magazine Newsweek, the Ukrainian energy infrastructure may cease to function by Catholic Christmas.

In this situation, Georgia decided to send Ukraine electric generators. The corresponding purchase of generators will be made by the Ministry of Economy.
