Denis Protasov, a programmer from the Sverdlovsk region, was among the winners of the national artificial intelligence championship. Uralets has developed a system for recognizing obstacles on railway tracks. This was reported in the press service of the governor.

The strongest developers in the country spent a month creating working solutions based on artificial intelligence for the largest companies, dividing the prize fund of 3 million rubles. Denis Protasov entered the top 15 participants in a case from a subsidiary of the Russian Railways Institute. They had to create an algorithm that would determine the elements of the road infrastructure: track and rolling stock. Machine vision technologies will make it possible to eliminate some dangerous technological operations and increase the safety of passengers and railway employees. An intelligent recognition system will warn the driver about obstacles on the way.

The Sverdlovsk programmer participated in such a competition for the first time. In total, 1.5 thousand IT specialists tried their hand at the championship, who created over 2 thousand technical solutions. The TOP-5 regions by the number of participants included Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk regions.

Denis Protasov led the development of pilot projects for intelligent video surveillance systems in Akademichesky (Ekaterinburg region). Today he works as a technical leader in computer vision in a company that offers IT solutions for systems for photo-video recording of traffic violations and traffic flow analysis. They can be used in the creation of intelligent transport systems under the Safe High-Quality Roads national project and in the Safe City complexes.
