Over 3.3 billion rubles will be additionally directed to the regions for monthly payments for children aged 3 to 7 from low-income families. The order to this effect was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

The need for additional funding is related to the specification of the number of recipients of payments in the regions. The government’s reserve fund became the source of funds.

Monthly payments for children from 3 to 7 years old were introduced by presidential decree in 2020. Depending on the situation in the family, their size can reach 50, 75 or 100% of the regional subsistence minimum per child and ranges from 6 thousand to 13.5 thousand rubles on average.

The issue was discussed at a meeting with vice-premiers on 12 December. As Mikhail Mishustin noted, payments for children from 3 to 7 years old are just one of the measures to support needy families. “We are creating a holistic system of assistance throughout the country so that parents of children of all ages, as well as expectant mothers, can use it. And from January 1, a single allowance will be introduced, which will combine the existing payments for children and pregnant women,” the head of government recalled.
