In Taganrog, a solemn opening of the restored memorial plaque to the soldier-internationalist, holder of the Order of the Red Star (posthumously), Guards Private Alexei Denisenko took place. He died heroically on January 25, 1980 while performing military duty in the Republic of Afghanistan.

The restoration of the memorial plaque was carried out by veterans of the Regional Public Organization “Union of Taganrog Paratroopers” as part of the implementation of the socially significant project “No one but us!”. This project won the competition for a subsidy from the regional budget and was supported by the Government of the Rostov region and the administration of Taganrog.

The solemn event was attended by Deputy Head of the Taganrog Administration for Social Affairs Irina Golubeva, Taganrog Military Commissar Andrey Pershin, father of the deceased internationalist soldier Nikolai Denisenko, members of the Union of Taganrog Paratroopers and the Union of Afghan Veterans, soldiers-internationalists, teachers and students of school number 20.

The right to open a commemorative plaque installed on the facade of the school where the Taganrog hero studied was given to the military commissar of the city Andrey Pershin, the chairman of the Union of Taganrog paratroopers Alexander Setkov and the director of school No. 20 Elena Shutova. The event ended with a flower-laying ceremony.
