82-year-old fashion designer found guilty of sexual assault

Court Canada found former fashion designer and owner of Nygard International Peter Nygard guilty of four counts of sexual assault. This is reported by The Guardian.

During the six-week trial, the women (names and surnames were not disclosed) testified against the 82-year-old businessman. It is noted that the man made appointments for them in public places, and then invited them on a tour to the headquarters of his company in Toronto, which ended in his bedroom. The room had a bed, televisions and a jacuzzi. In addition, it is alleged that the doors were missing handles, and the locks were controlled by Nygard himself.

One of the victims said that she was 16 years old when the fashion mogul took her on a similar excursion. The woman admitted that Nygard sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, when she left the building, she was given an emergency contraceptive pill.

In turn, Nygard told the court that he did not remember any of the women who reported him. In this regard, he denied allegations of sexual harassment and violence. “My position is that I would not behave in this way,” the publication quotes the businessman as saying.

In October reportedthat former models accused former director of the fashion brand Abercrombie & Fitch Mike Jeffries and his business partner Matthew Smith of sexual exploitation of men.
